Buying a new home? Use the checklist below to help remember some of the key items to get you through the moving process.

Buyer Moving Checklist

Set up service with utility companies. Contact our office if you would like a list of contacts.

Determine start date for Homeowners Insurance Policy.

Schedule moving day to allow time for closing, cleaning, and necessary repairs.

Complete change of address with USPS.

Change your address with your bank/financial institution, the DMV, insurance, medical providers, employer, schools, and subscriptions.

Deep clean, including carpets.

Complete repairs and renovations.

Change locks, reset garage code, and set up an alarm system.

Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, replace as needed.

Prepare for closing:

Bring a valid photo identification such as a driver's license, state issued ID card, or passport with you to closing.

Bring a cashier's check for any funds to close. If you prefer to send funds via wire transfer, please contact our office for instructions.

Coordinate with your real estate agent on the transfer of keys for the property.

Make sure all signers attend closing.

SELLER MOVING CHECKLIST

Seller Moving Checklist

Cancel service with utility companies. Contact our office if you would like a list of contacts.

Cancel your homeowner's insurance policy after you receive confirmation your transaction has been recorded. This is usually a few days after signing.

Complete a change of address with USPS.

Change your address with your bank/financial institution, the DMV, insurance, medical providers, employer, schools, and subscriptions.

Deep clean, including carpets.

Paint and complete necessary repairs.

Determine a moving day plan.

Collect moving supplies including boxes, tape, bubble wrap, markers, moving paper, and furniture blankets.

Prepare for closing:

Bring a valid photo identification such as a driver's license, state issued ID card, or passport with you to closing.

Bring account information for any funds paid to you. You will have the opportunity to provide deposit or wire instructions for any proceeds you will receive.

Coordinate with your real estate agent on the transfer of keys for the property.
